Zohra Opoku
Ghana / Germany, b. 1976
Opoku combines photography and textiles to explore identity, ancestry and the ways we preserve memory. Images become part of fabric, layered with stitching and personal references to create tactile surfaces that feel like intimate archives. Her work connects portraiture with the experience of belonging across cultures. Participation in the Sharjah Biennial and a major survey at Zeitz MOCAA in Cape Town in 2025–26 reflect growing institutional recognition of the depth and distinctiveness of her practice.
